Peterborough police say they have charged a 26-year-old man with stunt driving, speeding, and using a hand-held device while driving after he allegedly recorded himself travelling at more than double the speed limit earlier this week.

In a news release, investigators with the Traffic Management Unit say the man drove 150 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone along The Parkway.

Investigators say they were able to confirm the date, time, location, and speed of the vehicle after reviewing video footage from the area.

On Monday, police located and arrested the driver. He has not been named.

The motorist has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with stunt driving, speeding, and using a hand-held device while driving.

The accused’s vehicle has also been impounded for 14 days and his licence suspended for 30 days, officials noted.

The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with additional information is asked to contact Peterborough police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
