special weather statement has been issued for Toronto ahead of what is expected to be an exceptionally windy day in the city.
“Strong southwesterly winds will develop late Friday morning as a low pressure system pushes over northeastern Ontario,” Environment Canada said in its advisory.
“Wind warnings may be needed for some areas as the event draws closer.”
The national weather agency said the city could see wind gusts of between 70 and 90 km/h on Friday.
A mix of sun and cloud is in the forecast for Toronto today along with a 30 per cent chance of showers late in the afternoon.
Toronto will see a high of 25 C, feeling closer to 28 with the humidity.
Cooler temperatures are on tap for the weekend.
