Peel Regional Police say a 41-year-old suspect wanted in connection with the murder of a man in Brampton in 2024 has now been arrested.
The fatal shooting occurred near Kennedy Road and Stafford Drive at around 4 a.m. on May 11, 2024.
“First responders located a victim at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds and transported him to a trauma centre, where he later succumbed to his injuries,” police said in a news release issued Wednesday.
The victim was subsequently identified as 43-year-old Dayne Gordon, of Toronto.
A Canada-wide warrant was previously issued for the arrest of Winardo Winteria Morris in connection with the case.
On Feb. 9, 2026, police said 41-year-old Morris was charged with first-degree murder.
He was held pending a bail hearing, police noted.
“Anyone with any further information is asked to contact investigators with the Homicide Bureau at 905-453–2121, extension 3205,” the news release read.
