$80 million Lotto Max Jackpot survives another draw without a winner

Must read

The $80 million Lotto Max jackpot is still up for grabs, after no ticket matched the winning numbers in Friday night’s draw.

That means next Tuesday’s draw will feature the full $80 million jackpot along with 21 $1 million Maxmillions prizes, pushing total top-end prizing to $101 million, according to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation.

“Plenty of excitement around Lotto Max this morning,” OLG officials wrote in an email to CP24. “The $80 million Lotto Max still remains in play and the Maxmillions being offered keeps growing.”

Did anybody win the Maxmillions?

OLG says two Maxmillions tickets, each worth $1 million, were sold online through OLG.ca in the latest draw.

Several smaller prizes were also claimed through Encore, with $100,000 winning tickets sold in Middlesex County, the Brant region, Bowmanville and Mississauga, as well as one sold online.

Why the jackpot keeps hitting $80M

Friday’s draw marked the fourth time the Lotto Max jackpot has reached $80 million since OLG raised the game’s cap last year.

In March, the corporation increased the maximum jackpot from $70 million to $80 million, the third $10 million increase since Lotto Max was introduced in 2009.

The first-ever $80 million jackpot was split between winners in Owen Sound, Ont., and Quebec. The second was shared by players in Quebec and Alberta, while the third was claimed by a single ticket holder in British Columbia.

How can I win?

To win the top prize, players must match all seven numbers drawn.

The odds of winning the Lotto Max jackpot are 1 in 33,294,800 per $5 play, according to the OLG. The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 7.

If the jackpot remains unclaimed again Tuesday night, the $80 million top prize will stay intact while the number of Maxmillions prizes continues to grow, depending on how many are won in that draw.
