Police are searching for a suspect after a dead dog was discovered in a suitcase in Oshawa on Friday.

Durham Regional Police said they were called to Gibb and Grenfell streets, east of Stevenson Road South, around 9:30 p.m. for an animal abuse complaint.

A passerby, police said, made the discovery near a green space and called 911.

Officers launched an investigation and identified a suspicious male carrying a suitcase in the area between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

He is described as a white male with a goatee and beard. He was last seen wearing a bright orange construction-style hat and jacket with a yellow reflective stripe and jeans.

The suitcase is described as grey in colour, police said, adding that the man was also carrying a black metal trolley.

Officers are asking for the public’s help to identify the man, saying they are looking to speak with him.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2765 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
